Deacon’s Wives Lenten Retreat

Saturday March 20, 2021

9:00am – 11:30am

Deacons’ wives are invited to this special outdoor Lenten prayer experience which has been organized by:

Mrs. Robin Van Hook 916-837-8059

About the retreat: Our prayer will be held at a beautiful and inspiring setting overlooking Granite Bay. The Lenten-themed retreat will be led by Sr. Karla Felix-Rivera, VDMF. It will include a short input, personal reflection, and group sharing. Space is limited to 10 participants due to social distancing protocols; if more than 10 women sign up, adding another gathering before Easter will be considered.

Retreat Materials: Our morning together is intended to help busy women relax and let go of tasks. For this reason, each participant will receive a folder with the morning’s reflection material (Scripture passages, song, poems, reflection question, writting space, etc.). Participants can leave their bible and journals at home.

What to bring:

  • Pen
  • Hat, sunblock
  • Comfortable clothing
  • Walking shoes

  • Water & snack
  • Something to sit on (blanket, cushion, folding chair)

About the retreat leader: The morning meditation will be led by Sr. Karla Felix-Rivera, a contemplative-active Verbum Dei Missionary Sister who is an experienced retreat leader.

For over 21 years, she has offered countless retreats to adults, married couples, and young adults and developed multiple workshops on topics related to spiritual growth, lectio divina, and contemplation.

Additionally, she currently serves as Bishop Jaime Soto’s Delegate for Religious, Tribunal Judge, Canon Law Professor for the Permanent Diaconate Program and Santa Clara University’s GPPM program, and is a spiritual mentor to many. Sr. Karla developed outdoor prayer opportunities as a response to retreat centers being closed due to Covid restrictions.

Where will we meet:  We will begin at 9am with a simple meet & greet at Beeks Bight Parking Lot in Granite Bay State Park. From there, we will walk 13 minutes to our prayer spot which overlooks the beautiful Granite Bay. Restrooms are located in the parking lot and there is ample parking for all.
